After completing these three posts, do you now have a better understanding of what is "Digital Citizenship"?

If not, please explain why?

If so, what do you think it means now?

If you had to create a list of rules/regulations or "Constitution" if you would like, what would those rules be?

How does the GOLDEN RULE apply to digital citizenship?

We could have done much more with this, however, we do not have wireless at Church and we do not have a full class either.

Please take some time and reply to one another to get each others views on this serious issue.

  1. After reviewing these three posts, I have a better understanding of what digital citizenship is. "Digital" means technology. Things such as television, video games, social networking, ect. "Citizenship" means, that you are a member, or belong, to something. So, when you put them together, digital citzienship, it means you belong to technology. I think the golden rule applies to digital citizenship because, not only do you have to treat others the way you want to be treated in person, but especially online.
Finally, if I could create rules to follow for digital citizenship, they would be pretty simple. First, always think of the golden rule. Next, limit the time you spend on technology. Finally, never let technology interfere with the way you interact with people in person.

  2. Konstandina: First, thank you for retyping everyting since it got lost the first time. The cyber-world would have been a better place if people used technogoloy only for positive reaons like education or communicating with relatives that live far away.

HOw about if your parents (Mom and I) try to speak to you and then you run off to answer a text message. How does that feel from our point of view? Would you like if someone did that to you?

    Can you answer those questions?

  3. Konstandina,

You have a great point. You should treat people with respect no matter what. Whether or not the interaction is online or face-to-face, the expectations for our behavior should be similar. I also like your rule about not spending too much time using technology. I have a question for you, though. Why do you think limiting your time using technology is good for students and people in general?

    Thanks,
