Matthew 7:7-11 states "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; and he who seeks finds, and to him who knoxks it will be opened.  Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?  Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?  If you then, being evil, know how to give good things to your children, how much more will your Father who is in Heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Father George spoke about prayer again in Church on Sunday.  How often do you pray at home?

What do you pray for?  Things that you want or need?  Please be honest.

How can God hear our prayers?  To answer, think about God's infintie nature.  What must we do as humans to have our prayers reach God?

  1. When I am at home, I pray at least twice a day. Usually before I eat dinner and before I go bed. I thank God for everything that I have. I thank God for having a roof over my head and clothes on my back. I thank him for having food to eat and to have loving family and friends. I do NOT pray for things that I want. I ask my father for that. God hears our prayers because he is infinte and hears/sees everything. As humans we can talk to the space station, why couldn't God the creator of life hear His children? 2. Where ever I am in life, I always find myself turning towards God and prayer. Home, school or really anywhere I try to find the time to pray. Every morning when I wake up, I pray, thanking God for another day and pray for safety for the rest of the day. When I am at school, right before a test, I go into the bathroom and say a quick prayer asking Him for wisdom during this test. I also pray before a meal, thanking Him for putting this food on the table and asking Him to put some on other people's table that ma not always get some. I would never pray for materialistic things, for God will only give me what I need and what I deserve and I could not ask for anything more.

    1. Prayer is the way to communicate with God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Theotokos, the Saints, and Angels. We must pray every chance we get and you do that.

God knows what you NEED. We must NEVER pray for MATERIAL OBJECTS.

God is that little voice we hear before making a decision; especially if the decision is wrong. He advises us not to do wrong or harm to others and to help others with whatever we can.

That voice will become even more important when you enter high school, college, and life.

Thank you. Can you see if Nefeli can answer a couple also. If she can of course.

      See you in Church tomorrow!

    2. Its good that you pray that often. I know that while I may pray when I do as i said before, I think I need to pray more often like you do. Its important to pray to God as often as possible for wisdom, strength, and health.

    3. Dear Konstandina,

I agree with you but also what I need to get into the habit of doing is to pray before we eat because I always forget

    4. I do my cross before we eat at home. However, I have to work on when I wake up and throughout the day. Hope to see you Sunday in Church!

  3. I usually pray twice a day. Before i go to school and when i go to bed. But i also pray to God outside of school. Like if i have a test. Before i take it, i will ask God to help me do good and then do my cross. I even pray when i play sports. I pray before every game asking God to help me play my best. Sometimes my teammates see me praying and doing my cross. They ask me why i do it and i just tell them it helps me. I feel like if i pray to God before i play, i will do better. At night, i ask God to forgive me for all my sins that i have done and i thank him for letting me have the life that i have. I also ask God to help those who are less fortunate than me and to give everyone food, water, clothing, shelter, and everything else that they might need. I thank God for everything that i have and also for letting my family have good health.

    1. Dear Costas: It was nice reading your post Costas. I am glad you pray for those who are hurting right now. I personally always say, I pray for those who pray for me as well as those who pray against me." This is how forgiveness begins. When I was at UCONN going for my sencond BA in history, I went to the Greek Church on campus and prayed before mid terms and finals. I found it relaxed me as well. God is infinite and all HE asks is that we let Him into our lives. Do you agree?

Your Mom told me that you do that before a game. That is so cool. I always did myself before a Tae Kwon Do tournament. Praying helped me also.

***Please do not misread the newest post about football/soccer. See if you can post something there as well.

      Talk soon.

  4. I pray twice a day, before I leave in the morning and before I go to bed. In the morning I thank God for the gift of the new day, for the courage to be honest, kind, respectful, and helpful to others, and to fill my heart with love and joy. In the evening, I ask God to forgive my sins and to watch over those who love me and care for me, and even those who don't. I am also sure to thank God for all my blessings. I will also pray specifically for someone I love who is going through a hard time. After reading all these blogs however, I realize that I should also pray more often during the day, especially if I am nervous or stressed about something in particular. I should also be sure to thank God for all the things I take for granted as well.

  5. Katerina: I was very pleasantly surprised with some of the responses I read. It is amazing how often some people pray during the day. I remember your Mom telling us the story about Costas during his soccer games praying before the game. That is cool.

I am very impressed that you pray for those who do not pray for you as well. Our Lord Jesus Christ said, "What credit is it to us if we only pray for those who pray for us. The sinners do as much. You have to pray for those who pray against you...." That is so true. When you do that, something positive happens as well.

Thank you once again. If you have any free time and you want to continue blogging, that would be a great help to me as well until May.
